Eurobike – the leading trade show for all things bicycle. Formerly based at Lake Constance, it now took place for the third time at the exhibition grounds in Frankfurt am Main. More than 1,800 exhibitors from over 60 countries filled eight halls with bicycles, components, clothing and all kinds of useful things that can be used for cycling or bicycle construction.

The five days of Eurobike were traditionally split into two parts: the first three days were reserved for trade visitors, with 35,080 people attending the trade show. The weekend was then open to all bike fans, with 33,090 visitors marveling at the trade show innovations.

And RCYL was right in the middle of it all! Five days packed with interesting discussions about our products and lots of test rides. For the first time this year, we had two stands. One in Hall 8 and the other in the 150,000 m² outdoor area.

The RCYL booth at Eurobike

Cranks, pedals, bearings, wheel bearings, freewheel ...

Like last year, our booth in the hall was divided into two parts. On one side was everything you need to know about the RCYL bike, on the other side new products from igus (the company behind RCYL) were presented.

On the RCYL side, our plastic bikes in different colors could be admired – all with 50% recycled plastic of course. For those who wanted to delve deeper into the material, there were cut-away sections of the frame to see the internal structure and wall thickness. Internal and external components could also be closely examined. Freewheel, wheel bearings, pedal bearings, pulleys, etc. were all on display.

Our Eurobike booth

As in previous years, the igus booth featured various plain bearings, rod ends, gears and guide rails that can be used on derailleurs for road and gravel bikes, dropper posts, brake levers, suspension forks or rear shock eyelets for MTBs, and handlebars, flaps and steering bearings for cargo bikes. Fun fact: igus has been producing these products for component and bicycle manufacturers for over 30 years – did you know that?

After igus presented handlebar prototypes made of plastic last year, further developments were shown this year, as well as cranks, wheels and frame prototypes. And brand new: the first injection-molded plastic frame from igus in series production! This is used in the Advanced Reco Urban e-bike, which straight away won the Eurobike Award in the “Best e-bike” category!

VR for the win!

Our team at the test track

But back to RCYL. In addition to the igus prototypes on display, there was also a test station where the RCYL frame was loaded and unloaded. And of course the VR station was not to be missed! Let’s move on to the outdoor booth. It was reserved for our plastic urban bike. Here every visitor had the chance to experience our bike in action during a test ride. They took advantage of this opportunity and talked shop with our colleagues at the booth before and after the ride.

A bike with more than 92% plastic rides smoother than one with an aluminum or carbon frame. This has the comfort advantage that bumps in the road are better absorbed and a suspension fork is not absolutely necessary. After the test rides, potential customers were able to fill out a survey to rate various aspects of the RCYL bike, which was very popular.

Eurobike was a great success for us – you can only get so much feedback and direct contact with interested people at a trade show. We returned to Cologne with a lot of inspiration and new ideas. And a lot of excitement for Eurobike 2025! See you in Frankfurt! We would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire team who put their heart and soul into preparing the show, setting up the booths and taking care of the customers ❤.

It was a blast - see you at Eurobike 2025!
